Beyond Baker Street: The London of Arthur Conan Doyle

May Term 2026: May 10 to May 17, 2026 (+/-1-3 days)

This travel course looks at the people and places of London through the eyes of British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his most famous creation, Sherlock Holmes. Students in this course will travel to London, Southsea, and the surrounding area, visiting and reflecting on Doyle's life, his writings, and his enduring legacy in one of the world's great cities.

Cost

  • Self-Pay Travel Cost (Students who are not Elevate Credit Eligible):  $3,400
  • Your Out-Of-Pocket Cost After Elevate Credit has been Applied (Valued at $2,600 for eligible students): $800
  • For all travelers:
    • Insurance Fee:  $90 charged directly to your Student Account
    • Recommended for Meals & Personal Funds: $300
    • Tuition: May be part of spring semester tuition.

Day 1: Travel from US to England, arrive at hotel
Day 2: Travel to Southsea and Portsmouth
Day 3: Visit Baker Street, the Sherlock Holmes Museum and Devonshire Place – dinner at Speedy’s Café
Day 4: Visit the British Museum – dinner at Sherlock Holmes pub
Day 5: Take the Sherlock Walking Tour – dinner at Simpson’s in the Strand
Day 6: Visit St. Paul’s Cathedral, London Bridge and the Tower of London
Day 7: Travel from England to US
